On May 5th, the website of the Abeona project was launched. The website provides information about the project, the technology behind CO₂ storage, and the role of Abeona in the decarbonization of industry.
Abeona is a project for the transport and storage of CO₂ beneath the North Sea. It focuses on reusing existing infrastructure, including a former oil pipeline and depleted oil fields. By repurposing this infrastructure, CO₂ can be transported and stored efficiently, with limited impact on the surrounding environment.
The project contributes to the development of CO₂ storage capacity and infrastructure in the Netherlands. This enables captured CO₂ from industrial clusters to be stored beneath the North Sea, helping to reduce emissions.
